INFO

Glen Milner is an RTS award-winning and Grierson nominated filmmaker from Yorkshire, England.

After several years working through the camera ranks on feature films such as Terrence Malick’s Tree of Life, Glen began to apply his own visual approach to documentary storytelling.

Early shorts such as Iranian, Gay and Seeking Asylum picked up awards for Best LGBTQ Film at the New York Short Film Festival, while Channel 4 and National Geographic backed films Elders and Return of the Sun were nominated for Best British Short at Leeds International Film Festival as well as The Sterling Award at AFI DOCS in Washington. Subsequent commissioned short films including Letters of Fire featuring Dominic West, have since screened at BAFTA and Academy Award qualifying festivals worldwide.

Since then, long-form documentaries for networks such as the BBC and Disney+ have gone on to receive wide-spread critical acclaim for their personal approach when often dealing with complex subject matters. This includes multiple awards and nominations at institutions such the Royal Television Society and The Grierson Trust (The British Documentary Awards). BBC films like Handmade in Hull and Redefining Juliet were praised for challenging the documentary form with their intimate and unique visual approach, while The Dying Swan also went onto take the Grand Prix at The Golden Prague Television Festival in 2019.

In 2023, Disney+ documentary Hideo Kojima: Connecting Worlds premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival where it also received a nomination. His current BFI backed feature documentary All Points North, is long-term project profiling the shifting industrial landscapes of Yorkshire through the eyes of everyday workers. He was also recently selected as one of the director’s for the BAFTA Connect program.

In addition to broadcast commissions, Glen has also directed commercials and content for global brands and agencies for over ten years resulting in millions of views worldwide. For commercial work please see Vimeo
